"Notes from the Cider Shed"
March 2012

The Spring edition of 'Out Inn Cheshire', the local magazine from CAMRA that covers Cheshire, features an article written by Matthew about our approach to cider.

It covers the main taste dimensions of dryness, acidity and tannin - all of which you'll find in balanced proportions in a good cider. Hopefully you'll find it not too dry a read!

The article can be found on pages 26 and 27 of this pdf.

Nook's Yard supporting the arts.
December 2011

In September, the Mikron Theatre Company performed it's production of 'Beer Street', a joint 40th celebration of their anniversary as well as CAMRA's. As the production was in the village, we did our bit to encourage people to come along, and the audience wasn't disappointed with the show put on by this very talented group of actors and musicians.

You can read the full story in 'Out Inn Cheshire', the magazine from CAMRA that covers Cheshire. The article can be found at the top of page 4 of this pdf.

This month's 'Out Inn Cheshire', the magazine from CAMRA that covers Cheshire, has an article about Davenports Farm Shop winning the 2011 North Cheshire Real Ale in a Bottle Retailer of the Year. Nook's Yard gets a mention as being one of the three Cheshire real cider producers - and of course being in the same village!

The article can be found at the top of page 11 of this pdf.

Nook's Yard draught perry wins award.
May 2011

We're very pleased that one of our draught perries was placed 3rd in the Dry Perry class at the Big Apple Cider & Perry Trials held at Putley, Herefordshire.

Our bottle conditioned cider just missed out on an award, and was 4th behind some highly respected and experienced cider makers..

The competition is part of the "Blossomtime" festival celebrating Herefordshire's apples and pears with entrants judging each others' traditional craft ciders and perries.

It attracts entries from many of the major Herefordshire craft cider makers such as Once Upon a Tree, Ross on Wye Cider & Perry, James Marsden of Gregg's Pit as well as other makers from Wales, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Berkshire and Cheshire.

Well done to all the entrants - see you again next year!

Launch of our 2011 Cider & Perry.
May 2011

We'll be launching our 2011 cider & perry at Davenports Farm Shop, Bartington on the afternoon of Saturday 7th May.

There'll be free tasting of samples of some of our ciders & perries, and a chance to learn a bit more about how we go about making our cider. Of course, there'll also be some available to buy!
